Hello There,
I was sitting on the beach last week rereading Relentless by Tim Grover. The man who trained Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade. The guy who spent decades working with the most elite performers on the planet and studying what actually separates great from the best.
And I got to the Cleaner section and I had to put the book down.
Not because it was new information. Because it was a mirror. Everything Grover says about how a Cleaner operates, where the fire comes from, how accountability works, I recognized. Not as an aspiration. As a description of who I already am when I stop letting the hard season talk me into being smaller.
I went all the way in on Grover’s framework today, with full credit to him and a strong recommendation to read the book. The three types, Cooler, Closer, Cleaner, and how to locate yourself honestly. The page 118 accountability framework, one sentence, no explanation, I fucked up, now fix it, and the neuroscience of why that clears the nervous system faster than any explanation. Why the Cleaner’s fire comes from inside and what it costs everyone around you when yours has been managed down. David walking out to face Goliath as the most biblical Cleaner in Scripture. And what being a Cleaner actually looks like on a regular Tuesday with no audience and nothing external to close toward.
I think you are not a Cooler. I think there is a Cleaner in there that has been operating like a Closer because the full version felt like too much to claim.
This episode is the reminder of who you actually are.
